    chris9,
You can try diable norton temporily and go ahead to delete your download programme.
Your download was held back by your norton that is why.
I have used norton security including anti-virus and found it a stupid dump software that ate up a lot of your pc memory.
This will cause your pc to slow down and even freeze. Another one is Mcafee securities including anti-virus and spyware software they used to ate up a lot of your memory resources causing your pc to stop function or even freeze and you even cant get rid of even you press alt+ctrl+del from the task manager.

In order to totally remove norton from your system you got to download a tool from norton website to remover the register file.

If I were you, I will stop using norton. I manage to catch a few viruses by using avg anti-virus software that not even norton or mcafee can do it........at that time I was having the latest norton definition file.

Norton and Mcafee is not free and not forgetting you have to pay for yearly subscription which is pretty expensive....

Right now, there are some anti-virus software which are far more superior than norton and mcafee.

There are AVG, ANTVIR, and AVAST just to name a few....

And the most important is they are free with permanent update of definintion file almost daily automaticaly.

The link for avg anti-virus software is :- http://www.download.com/3001-2239_4-10342876.html?idl=n

If you want to clean your register file you can download crap cleaner (freeware) at http://www.ccleaner.com/update/?v=1.25.201&l=1033.

    Good Luck Pal.....

Try running your computer in safe mode then delete the problematic file. If that doesn't work try the procedures listed in

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/220244

If that doesn't work, try scanning with avg antivir et al. and then ctrl+alt+delete and see if anything is running that looks suspicious. If so end it and then you should be able to delete it.

Finally if all else fails, the programme could be hiding in your system restore folder. If this is the case you will need to delete the contents to erase the virus. This should be done as a last resort as the contents of this folder cannot be retrieved once deleted and contains valuable data allowing the user to revert their computer.
I hope some of this helps your situation. Lets us know what happens

    hey chris 9 ,

if you downloaded your install with p2p software you need to shut it down , and then disable norton and go to bitdefender . com and run the free online scan , it may take sum time but let it run .
see what it picks up, (bitdefender will delete/clean the infected file).
make sure as well that you disable system restore and after you have run bitdefender , able system restore and create a new restore point.

post back and let me know how you get on

    regards

    mark

this is how I deleted the file ...

    start - run - msconfig - enter.

click on services tab, check hide all Microsoft services - then disable all.

at the start up tab disable all. Restart pc - delete the file.

restart pc - msconfig - enable your services and startup to your preferences.

    worked for me.

Safe mode did not work for this file. got rid of Norton, went to AVG free.

Grammar seems to be a big thing here nowadays...
The fact that you understood my made-up word shows that you understood my language: purpose of communication. Your hideous use of "undeletable is not a word I don't think." doesn't say anything about anything (well it could be argued that you are stating that undeletable is a word and then, of course, you would be wrong).
"I don't think." seems to sum you up.
With language changing all the time i'm sure my "undeletable" will be accepted before your...whatever that was.
Let me know the next time you need help arnold and i'll bend over backwards to help...
