I posted this in a different forum but they told me to come here so sorry for cross-posting. OK I'm new to burning and copying and just recently bought a new iMac. Ive been searching through the forums but i am completely lost about the terms and software and everyhting. I do not know what programs are compatible for Macs. I dont know the steps to copying DVDs. All I want to do is take a DVD that I have and copy it to a 4.7 GB DVD-R. I do not know anything about encoding or copyrighting. From what Ive read so far, it seems like copying from a DVD to a blank one is relatively easy and quick. Maybe this is just for PCs? Could anyone just give me a step by step guide to copying a DVD on a Mac? I have the dvd software that came with my iMac (it's the brand new one that just came out a few weeks ago) and I d not have any other software so far. And remember that I am not familiar with any of the terms that I keep seeing. Also, I know they have a few things for Macs that are purchaseable, but is anyhting free? Also, has anyone used the PC software on a mac through Virtual PC? Im often on AIM at bigboy7267; anyone who is willing to help feel free to instant message me.

IS it a commercial DVD? You may not be able to copy it if it is.I dunno. If it isn't, check out the help screens in your iMac. I usually hide a help screen while I'm learning what it's telling me, and switch between it and the window I'm trying to learn. Good luck. Macs are pretty easy, but they can be a pain just like a PC, and if your used to PC, Mac's do things a bit differently and it takes a bit of getting used to.

Thansk guys that was really informational and what i needed. One last thing though, Ive been searching around for the software that i need from the guides but cant find any of it. If anyone has some bookmarks with these files or anyone that knows off the top of their head the links where i can find them?
