I'm having trouble backing up a copy of The Exorcism of Emily Rose. I have ripped and shrunk it using DVD Decrypter/Shrink with no problem, so I know it's a burning problem and not an encryption one. I now have an ISO image file on my hard drive that I'm trying to burn using Decrypter. I get the following error message from Decrypter... I/O Error! Device:[1:1:0]PHILIPS DVD+-RW DVD8631 GD30 (E (ATA) ScsiStatus: 0x02 Interpretation: Check Condition CDB: 2A 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 20 00 Interpretation: Write(10) - Sectors: 0 - 31 Sense Area: 70 00 05 00 00 00 00 12 00 00 00 00 21 02 00 00 00 00 00 01 02 03 04 05 Interpretation: Invalid Address For Write ...This is frustrating b/c I have done many DVD backups this way before. My firmware is up to date and I'm using Sony DVD-R 1x-8x discs...which have always worked fine in the past. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I have now also tried burning with Nero and that craps out as well. I have the Nero log file if that would help, but is there anything in it that I should delete before I post it?

You have absolutely NO ram to play with, do not multitask whilst burning and you're trying to burn far too close to edge, reduce to around 4300. Now over to the experts for all the things I have missed.
just rushing as i need a shower, so apologies if i state something that's already been posted - firmware's up to date - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1978 However, just in case your burner's out of a known bad batch, see here - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/179003 - DMA needs to be ON, fix via this - http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/FAQ.htm - sufficient total memory but no free memory. you have to close down more programs prior to ALL dvd work/burning to free up more memory - 4464MB is burning too close to outer edge of discs. If you use DVD Shrink, set target size to 4300MB in Shrink's preferences thus avoiding outer edge and not sacrificing much space follow ALL suggestions - maybe try 4x
OK. I think the problem is with my crappy Philips 8631 drive. The firmware is up to date and the DMA is enabled. I ran the the Nero InfoTool and it recognized my drives and everything looked good there, but I started to put in blank Sony DVD-R's and it recognized the first one I put in there, so I tried others and it would say no disc inserted. I tried about 5 blank discs with no luck and then I put the original one back in that it did recognize this first time around, only this time it didn't and I got the no disc inserted message again. So it seems that my drive is pretty much dead. Any thoughts on this and any recommendations on a replacement drive?
I'm using an older NEC with great results. Here is a link to a newer model for only $41.99. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1647585&Sku=N27-1886 Burners have come a long way and the prices have come way down. Whatever you select, I would suggest gettting a DL burner, as when the media comes down, you will be ready. Most out there now are dual layer.
Help! I have been trying to decrypt the latest harry potter and i get a I/O Error msg that pops up...How can i fix it?
I am getting the same error message and have tried 4-5 times to backup this same movie. Any ideas on my problem cause My DVD burner is a Memorex dual layer...???
