I have a gamecube at home (obviously), and some games that I'd like to 'backup.' I want to know if there is any known way of copying the iso files and burning them onto a mini dvd-r and playing them on my gc. I'll take almost any method, BUT I DON'T WANT THE PHANTASY STAR ONLINE METHODD!!! If any one has a good guide they can give me, or a good program name, thanks! PS: empahsis on the fact PLAYED ON MY GC!!!
If you don't want to do the phantasy star method, you're going to need to get a hold of a viper extreme, which I believe comes with the USB adapter. Works for me, can work for you, but ya gotta know how to solder.
Alright, so how does the whole viper extreme method work? I want to make sure I know exactly what I'm getting. Where does it go? How does it work? What's the step by step guide for burning the discs! I know viper extreme is a mod chip, but how do you burn the games?!?!?! Thanks for your help!
It goes inside the case. You put your original in the gamecube and start the backup program. It goes through USB.

Maybe someone else can comment in on this? I've only seen it on sale at a few places, and while it's kind of pricey, you'll save quite a bit of games from scratches etc. I bought my chip here http://www.divineo.com/cgi-bin/div-us/dd-gc-vipextr There are cheaper chips, but I believe this is the only NON-PSO method to backup your games.
i think ozzyzak is right because my qoob pro doesnt have a backup option ( afaik). i have been lookin for a BBA locally but nothing so far. Also does it take less time with the viper compared to the PSO method?
I don't think it takes any longer, but I've heard that the PSO method doesn't work as well and that the games don't transfer well. I'm probably going to go for the viper chip, just have 2 save my money now... *grumbles* My last question is; does it come with instructions how 2 put it in? I've never exactly taken my gc apart before... Thanks for everyone's help!
Qoob Pro has a built in ripper and can also run homebrew rippers such as GCOM. Only problem is, you need a BBA to back-up games with it. So if you don't already have one, it could be quite troublesome to find one.
As I recall, it's something like this. Not too sure about the address though, since GCOM is a bit different. With your BBA connected to your PC or home network, load up the Qoob Pro's menu and access the GC using http://GameCube IP address/dvd/backup.iso
