Hello everyone, I'm new here and I've really been enjoying the forums. I've read a lot of the post and have picked up quite a few new tips...

I've been trying to convert PAL to NTSC without investing in any more software. In doing some research it's been recommended that I backup the dvd to my HD and then convert it to an image file. I'd like to know if there are any free programs that will do that. I don't recall seeing the option to save as an ISO with DVDshrink. Am I mistaken?

Also, will a stand-alone player be able to play an ISO, or does something need to be done after that?

    Thanks in advance--

Easy and free - vobblanker. It's what I use.
    You can download it here:http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm
No need for an iso - just rip the files to your hd open the .ifo in vobblanker thru the video_ts folder where the file is. Create a new folder for vobblanker to put the processed files.
Here's a link outlining the steps:

Once vobblanker done use the processed files to burn.
