I was burning a movie. It was downloaded from my hosting site at another house of mine in .rar; so I extracted, and then opened the files in DVD-Shrink under re-author. You need to free up some memory. Try turning off unnecessary programs running in the background (like antivirus and antispyware programs) and don't multitask while burning. Worst DVD media out there. Try some better DVD's like Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden or Sony/Fuji/Maxell if made in Japan. Looks like your burner doesn't have a write strategy for those CMC Mags. Your Samsungs firmware should be updated, it is about 5 versions behind. In shrink goto: edit--->preferences, in the preferences tab choose custom from the dropdown menu and enter a value of 4300. You're right, it's a bin file (what's up with that?), I believe you'll need an uncompression utility like winrar to get it. OR I went directly to the samsung site, they show version TS10 only for your burner, I recommend you update to this version, it's a zip file so you shouldn't have a problem getting it. Thanks, that time it worked. But it won't play in my dvd player. I put the disc back in my comp and opened it up, there were like 15 files in it, is that right? I had the .rar files that I extracted, then mounted it/them with daemon and that's where I got the files that I burned. Is there somewhere with a walk through guide for burning from all different types of files and how to burn them in nero or shrink? I keep finding these individual guides and trying them, but they don't seem to work. As you can imagine it's frusterating. I paid to download these movies and can't figure out how to burn em~! ;(
Once I mount them/it with daemon there is a Video_TS and all of the files are either 'dvd movie' 'dvd info' or 'backup file of the IFO'
I'm not sure I understand. I am not familiar with Daemon and why you have to mount it to see your video_TS folder. You should be able to import your Video_TS folder into nero recode or Shrink and burn the movie. The movie, info, and IFO files in the video_TS folder are normal. Can you play it on your computer? Does your stand alone DVD player play the type of media you burned the movie to(DVD-R)? I am confused and probably not much help. Johnl123 do you have any input? Maybe you understand what is going on better than me. Your the resident Shrink guru anyways. @StiPilot, When you extract the file/files, what exactly is it that you now have? Can you please describe the files as best you can. Daemon tools is only required here to mount ISO image files on order to get access to the files in the VIDEO_TS folder. Once the file was extracted, I's assuming you got an ISO image or images that needed to be mounted using Daemon tools in order to view/extract the files in the VIDEO_TS folder. The VIDEO_TS folder contains all of the video files that represent the movie, in the folder there should be .ifo, .bup, and .vob file types. If the VIDEO_TS folder's size is less that 4.5GB, then you should be able to burn the files directly to a single layer disk using nero. Wow thanks alot guys, all really helped. It's good to see people actually stepping up to help out rather than the obligatory and frustrating "Search" response. Well, the good news is I figured out how (thanks to you guys) how to burn my files. With that came another small problem. I burned another movie which went perfectly, but when I went to playback on my sony, I was greeted with "Playback prohibited due to area limitations"-- Now I know this is probably a region thing, but when I burned it I had it set at 'region free'........what could the deal be? My discs? My Drive? Again, I appreciate the help immensly already..
You might want to process the files in the VIDEO_TS folder thru this handy free application called "Free DVD" to definitely remove any region coding prior to burning to disk. Check it out here: http://dvdidle.com/free.htm Free DVD removes several protections from a DVD folder on the hard disk. It removes region code (RC), region code enhancement (RCE), analog copy protection, and user operation prohibitions (UOPs). You can use it to get a free DVD before you burn the DVD folder.
Now I've got 93 files taht look like this 'xpdvd-wtl-DTS-NTSC-DVDR.002' They aren't rar files as I already extracted a rar and these 93 files were the result. I think they are image files but the icon is just the generic file icon. What do I need to do?
