I'm running AnyDVD 5.9.5.6 while ripping in DVDDecryter. I successfully rip, but when I try to open the VideoTS in Shrink I get "Invalid data in file..." I just recently started using AnyDVD, so maybe I don't have something set up correctly in Decrypter? Here is the log from my rip in DVDD........

Hello KudzuReb,

Just a quick question for you is there some reason as to why you are ripping the DVD to your hard drive in the first place? What I mean is if you are already using AnyDVD you could just bypass the Decrypter part all together and go right to using Shrink. I just thought I would ask the question is all. If you need to rip the DVD to your HD for some reason then I would suggest giving DVDFab Decrypter a try it will work on the newer movies much better than DVD Decrypter.

Cheers

I use AnyDVD + DVD Decrypter all the time.
The settings for DVD Decrypter need to be set to those suggested by Slysoft.
Reset DVD Decryter to Default.
Turn off CSS Cracking.
Select SPTI or ElbyCDIO interface option.
Uncheck Check for Structure protection.

You can still tweak for things like ignore errors if you suspect bad sectors or read errors of some sort.

With some of the newer releases with more difficult copyright protections (Arccoss, Ripguard, Puppetlock), I've needed to process the ripped files for compliance with FixVTS. AnyDVD on the more recent releases has included a ripper that incorporates FixVTS (it processes for compliance while doing the rip). With the newer AnyDVD update, I've not needed to do the compliance processing, so AnyDVD may have gotten that covered with the driver decryption. Compliance is something to keep in mind though when processing decrypted files.

@BB
Some software such as RB works better with HDD files. Where a source DVD may not read smoothly, if a person can get a good rip, the HDD source will read smoothly to the backup software. I've actually seen a backup play better than the scratched source DVD.

Okay, I followed BB's advice and opened Shrink and went to "Open Disk." After only 8% of analysing, I received a "Copy Protection Error - The read failed b/c the sector is encrypted." This makes be wonder if AnyDVD is working. If I read BB's post right, I can rip with shrink and then just burn with DVDD?

In the meantime while I'm waiting for a response, I'll change DVDD as brobear suggested.

Thanks for your help guys, I really appreciate it.

I changed the DVDD settings per BroBear and I get an error message on DVDD that I did not get before. I'm really starting to think AnyDVD is not working properly now. AutoStart and Enable AnyDVD are selected. Here is a screenshot of it..........

What was the error message? I recently did Narnia and it was a walk in the park. Narnia has been covered in depth, http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/5/321539 .
Narnia has been covered in more detail than it merits. It was one of the more easy releases to back up. I'm starting to wonder if you have a bad press as there was nothing put on a Region 1 release that would make doing a backup very difficult, especially using the latest version of AnyDVD.

Do a read scan and see if anything shows up. If not familiar, a read scan shows bad sectors when present, which sort of sounds like your problem. It's not a visible flaw you can see. If you don't have Nero or another app with the utility, use the free DVDInfoPro.

Trust me, I know. Narnia has been covered at length, but that wasn't the issue in this case. For some reason, AnyDVD was not working correctly, but it now is. I'm just using Shrink and AnyDVD to rip and DVDD to burn per BB's instructions. Thanks for all your help guys, it's nice to have a place to go.

That's interesting. What were you doing wrong? All a person has to do is keep AnyDVD updated and make sure it's turned on. It works with the default settings?

I'm not sure what was happening. I restarted (again) and it works. I never messed with the settings.

Nice to see you got it working.
