DVD Media Compatibility?

    Hi all,
    My first post, and yes I did search first, to no avail. Using eMac 1.42ghz with a SONY DVD RW DW-D21A Superdrive, Mac OS X 10.4, Toast Titanium 7. I'm freezing up trying to burn a dual layer disc. Using Verbatim DVD-R DL Media, selected 2x as burn speed in toast. I read somewhere that I can ONLY use DVD+R DL. Is this true? Thanks in advance!
