whats the motherboard ? if you know the model of the motherboard it will tell us which processor to use
I ran cpuz to find out. here is what it says. Dell Optiplex GX100 ....chipset-intel i810......southbridge-intel 82801AA (ICH)....sensor-ITE E411.
that really doesnt help much. like pcrepair said we need to know , model #,i'm going to assume its an intel board thats usually what dell uses, and also what processor is currently on it, whats its speed and socket size?
Its an intel i810 chipset the one before the i815 it supports every pentium 3/ celeron flip chip up to 1ghz,her current cpu is 495mhz celeron and yes you can tell alot with the cpuz thing
thank you to everyone who has helped me. From all of the information you all have given me, I guess my best bet would be to buy a pentium 4, and my slow computer will be a thing of the past! Thank you all again. This is a GREAT web site!
