i recently finished building my new computer which consists of:

    intel core 2 duo e6400
    1gb ram 667
    gigabyte ga- 965p-ds3 mobo
    gigabyte 7600gs
cooler master elite case w/350w psu
    pioneer dvd burner
    320gb sataII hard drive

when i first turn on the machine, it beeps once, which is a good sign, but then when i inserted the operating system disc, it turned off during the temporary driver installation. then i turned it back on, and it didn't even ask for the disc and just did nothing. then i turned it on again and a second later it just turned of again. now it is not turning on for very long at all before turning itself off again.

I suspect it is either the psu, becuase it might not be strong enough, or that i am missing the audio cable for the dvd drive.

if anyone thinks or knows what the problem is please help!

    Thankyou!!!

You are right. Install a more powerful PSU! It has nothing to do with the audio cable. Good luck!

this will give you a good idea of the type of power you will be using, remmember that most psu give optinum efficency at around 80% so if you will be using 400w a 450w psu is advised.

nice build btw, will you be overclocking? depending on your cooler, ram and psu that mobo/cpu combi should see 2.5ghz+

thanks heaps, i will give that a try.

i may think about overclocking it, but i have heard that you will need some serious cooling. I havn't overclocked before, but im currently doin some research on the net about how to do it. Any tips?

    Thanks again guys!

It shouldn't spin until you boot your computer.

Thanks, i got it up and running today once i bought the new power supply, the only thing i have left to do is to make windows recognize my 320gb hard drive.

Does anyone know how to do this?
