I'm kinda confused with this, in alcoholer, you can see that safedisk 2.4+ till 2.8(not included) uses EFM patterns lvl 2, s.8 included basic pre-gap, and 2.9 EFM patterns lvl 3 and pre-gap variable size , my quiestion is, my burner, a NEC ND-1300A has no sheeps :_(, it is new, but it is a present so i couldn't choose what one i wanted, the one i had before couldn't even read subchannel. but i can perfectly backup safedisk till V 2.8, the question is: how could i burn it without EFM encoding but the protection needs EFM encoding lvl 2??????
    Thks.

This might be of use and give you some ideas...
    SafeDisc 2.8+ with 1-Sheeper: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/36444
If you have the time/money however, find yourself a 2-sheep burner, they are fairly cheap nowadays (~$70CAD). Might i recoomend an ASUS 522452A? (that's what I've got). Shoey will undoubtably reccomend the LiteOn 52x32x52 or the LiteOne 48x24x48 burners. There are many more highly reccomended burners. Just try to stay away from LG, Phillips, NEC and in some/many cases, HP burners.

    2-Sheep Burners: http://www.elby.ch/en/products/clone_cd/writers/a.html and http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/45121

Well I dont know about your specific NEC but in general without even a 1-sheeper, burning almost any protection scheme is how shall we say, "difficult". Given that you dont even have a 1-sheeper your task will be even more daunting if not possible. Give that 1-sheeper guide a go maybe that can help but odds are you will not be able to do the more recent SD2 protections.

it's 0 sheep in elby's list in EFM encoding, but in subchannel it has 2, the fact is that i backed up the frozen throne and works, just in the reader not in the writer, but still works.
Mayb it's that my burner isnt 0 sheeps :D

Perhaps it is a repackaged burner (or just a freak case of that model)

What I mean is that some burners are made by one company and marketed as another.

All cd burners write EFM encoding (Eight to fourteen modulation). Some burners write "regular bit patterns [bold] correctly (2 sheep) [/bold] some burners write regular bit patterns [bold] almost correctly(1 sheep)[/bold]. The ability to backup Safedisc 2.8-2.9 (pre-gap) is not only 2 sheep hardware dependent, but also the abilty of the "rom" (DVD\CD\CDRW) to read "pre-gap". One can use Paddus DiscJuggler and read (dump) the image of a Safedisc 2.8-2.9 image and burn to a cdrw to determine if the "rom" has the abilty to read "pre-gap". Well known brand names that can read "pre-gap":[bold] Toshiba, Plextor& Asus.[/bold] So you backups of Safedisc 2.51 played in a dvd\cd-rom& your burner without the aid of emulation? EFM encoding isn't a issue backing up SecuROM cd protection, however, your "reader" must have the abilty to read sub-q channel data. Most cd burners nowadays do.....

Yeh, not onlly in my pc but in a friend's who hasn't got any kind of cd-r hiding stuff like alcohol or clonecd. sounds strange doesnt it???, bcuz safedisck 2.8 doesnt work, just if i play the cd in the direct exe, not the autorun ¬_¬

No as backups of Safedisc 2.8-2.9 are played in a dvd\cd-rom drive m8. Only way to play the backup of Safedisc 2.8-2.9 in a cd burner is to use some type of emulation or the aid of ATIP tool (ignore media type\hide cd-r). I'm talking about "true" Safedisc 2.8-2.9 images, [bold] not internet downloads [/bold].

hey man, i'd never talk bout warez here, i do not dl games of inet bcuz my bandwith is really poor 56k, the games i try to backup are original ones, well not common ones, but originals. ¬_¬

I (nor anyone else) am not accussing you about warez m8,[bold] just the facts [/bold]. Now you know why (or anyone who reads this thread) why they "may" encounter install\play errors when backing up Safedisc 2.8-2.9. The ability of a "rom" to read "pre-gap" is very helpful....
