hey all, im just wondering what cable would i use to connect my LAPTOP to my TV i have looked at the one that came with my PC and it wont fit my laptop I dont know what the connections are called so ill try and describe them in the cable that i have there are two ends a white end with 16 pins and another longer pin the other end is blue and has 12 pins. i know the white end goes into the PC and the blue end into my TV. But i want to connect my laptop to my TV and to do this i think i need a different cable as i don't have a place to put the white end on my laptop. what is the name of this cable i need to connect my laptop to my TV? edit: PS i want to use my TV as a screen for my laptop
I think you currently use a DVI to VGA connector, and want to use a VGA to VGA connector. Is the output from your laptop very similar to the plug you use on the TV? http://www.icalledshotgun.com/CRArticles/DVI-VGA Dual card.jpg VGA is on the left and DVI on the right.
hey, yer the one on my laptop is similar to the one on my TV, but looking now i see the one on my laptop is black not blue although it looks exactly the same as the one the picture. does it matter that it is black? if i PM you a link to a local electronics store could you help me find the right cable to connect my laptop to my TV and use my TV as a monitor?
It probably doesn't matter about the colour, as long as they are the same connector. You can probably easily get a VGA to VGA lead from Maplin, but it'll be expensive. Perhaps this? http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/34892/rb/0
