Ghost Recon is SafeDisc 2.40.010 protected so you will do well to follow the appropriate SafeDisc2 burning guide. The key determining factor here is the burner you've got. If you have a 2-sheep burner you can follow one set of instructions while if you've got a 1-sheep burner you have to use another:

For steps for burning SafeDisc2 see http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/23699

For steps on how to backup SafeDisc 2.8+ with 1-Sheep burner see http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/36444

For a list of 2-Sheep burners as well as an explaination as to what exactly "sheep" are, see http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/45121 and http://www.elby.ch/en/products/clone_cd/writers/a.html

To determine your make and model of your optical drives; if you happen to have Nero Infotools installed, start it up and under the Drive tab, it will list all the relevant specifications and capabilities of your burner. The actual name of your burner is listed in the drop-down box at the top (those numbers before the name of your burner are important too!). You can get InfoTools from http://www.cd-rw.org/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/nero_info_tool.cfm

I also wanted to make a backup of Ghost Recon, I read the link you gave but it didn't mention what format the image file should be saved as.

Is it ccd, iso or what? There are four options, can't remember the other two.

You can save the file format as Media Descriptor Image file (.mds). If you don't find your cd burner on the "2 sheep burner list", then you'll need to enable bypass efm error located in options>general>data type setting>record options. Now go to emulation and enable ignore media type. Burn your backup RAW DAO at 8x then minimize Alcohol 120% to system tray (startup) and play the backup in your cd burner, NOT your dvd\cd-rom.

If you have a two-sheep burner your duplicate is much more effective/reliable/easier to do. As for a 1-sheeper, you can still do it, but its not as fun as with a 2-sheeper :p

My instructions for backing up Ghost Recon using Alcohol 120 were self explainatory. Try backing up Ghost Recon:Desert Seige or Ghost Recon:Island Thunder? I assure you if you were to backup these 2 expansion packs with a "1 sheep burner", the backup will only play in your cd burner with the aid of a ATIP tool such as Alcohol 120% "ignore media type".
