Well, I've been doing some reading on the various softmods and I was throughly impressed in just how much you can really do with an xbox. The thing is though that all I really need is a softmod that will let me play backup/import games dirrectly off a burnt DVD for now--I'd rather not play the games off the HD. So, with these things in mind, which softmod is right for me?

So following "Gospel" tut will allow me to plug and play burnt games without having to first unload them onto the Xbox HD?

Just FTP the game onto your pc. There is no need to copy onto the hard drive first and then transfer over, it takes too much time.

You should consider upgrading your hard drive ASAP. Playing games from the hard drive extends the life of your dvd drive, lasers are not eternal.

chunkhead has all the tutorials you will ever need.

Thanks for the reply, and going along with what you said I'm still a little dazed by exactly how many tuts Chunkhead has. I'm gonna be doing plenty of reading them between now and when my AR Max arrives. By the way it seemed damn near impossible to find an AR for xbox. None of the game shops around here had them and they were even a pain finding online--it seemed everyone was out of stock.

Yeah, I hear ya. Finding one at a decent price. I found mine online.
These are the tutorials that you will need to learn and use for softmodding.

You need to backup your eeprom prior to softmodding.

Anyone know where I can find AID 4.10 on Rapid share? The one on Chunkhead's link is only about 30mb but the full version I'm pretty sure is 1.2gig.

Also, thank you for the above post.

Yeah, sorry about that. Ceareal posted it for us, but I'm confused as well, it's not the program itself, more like a patch...

I'll get a working one up soon!
