I am new to burning backup DVD's so bare with me... I know this is probably a simple question... I have a Mac G5 that when I check the drive says it burns DVD-R and DVD+R, does anyone know from experience with Macs or the media if it matters which I use to make backup DVDs. I'm clueless if it even would matter. Please help.
Hello, cguznicz: Most computers with a DVD drive will play burned DVD-R and DVD+R media. However, DVD players that connect to your TV are more finicky. Some will play both formats. Some will only play one or the other. Read your DVD player's owners manual for compatible formats. Or, search the VideoHelp Web site for the make and model of your DVD player: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers The consensus seems to be that Taiyo Yuden makes the best single-layer DVDs. Sony DVDs (especially those made in Japan) also have a good reputation.
