I have got a Philips DVR-80 recorder. It works fine.
I would like to edit some recorded Tv trasmission to eliminate pub and unwanted video sequences.
The specifications states that the video format is MPEG2 and the audio is Dolby Digital (AC-3)
I have copied the Video_TS from the DVD onto my Mac (OS 10.3.2
    Two problems:
    1) If i read the video with Quicktime PRO 6.5 (with the plugin MPEG2) there is no soundtrack
    2) If I copy the document on Imovie, I got an error message telling that the import could not be achieved — error - 40 —
I discovered that Quicktime PRO does not recognised video with AC3.
I supposed it is the same with Imovie..
What software should I use to import and edit successfully this type of Video_TS?

I think you have to decode it, that's what I do, I use A.Pack but there should be others, I think "bd4go" does the same thing. When you have your video in aiff, you can add it to the quicktime video file using add scaled.

    Hope this works

Many thanks for your reply. You'r dead right
I also discovered that I had to decode.
    I found Extractor which gave me 2 files : mv2 and AC3
I had to convert the second one in aiff thanks to mAC3dec.
    But it was not finished!
Imovie can't import document more than 2 Go, so
I used an applet called mm2d_1.0b8 to split the document.
Nevertheless I will try your suggestion
    Thanks again
