Hi, so i got a new pc and want to start copying my dvds. Used to have nero and dvd shrink on the old pc but was never that au fait with how to use them. So i'm looking for some advice on what software to get that's good and idiot proof too! Thanks!

if you want a very simple and easy way to burn DVDs, this method is an Afterdawn favorite... it does cost money, though: AnyDVD + CloneDVD2 use these programs together to break encryptions and then burn either entire DVD or you can just burn the movie! Very easy to use and once you buy the programs you get free updates for life! Slysoft is very good with updates to make sure that it can handle all the new DVDs that are out there: http://www.slysoft.com/en/ I think they are still giving a 21 day trial so you can try it out before buying!
^^^ And if you watch the website, they offer the occassional sale. I think it's typically like 20% off or so. Just got to keep watching it.
It does cost money.. which is why really we should be pointing newbies at the freeware tools first and then (like any dvd has been reported this week) if they run into troubles suggesting obtaining the payware things.. One thing missing from our erstwhile "avoid paying the mpaa" user guide to dvd.. dvd flick .. to turn those "usual sources" avi files into dvd disks

I rode the freeware train for years. Finally i bought DvdFab Platinum for two reasons. 1. The price was going to go up a little. 2. I wanted to give something back to Fengtao.
As i said i'm totally new to this, so i would kind of like to practise a bit with the free stuff first before i invest in any programs, you know? Because i don't know how much use i'm going to get out of it. I mean if i can't work it out, i'll have wasted my money!
the programs here will do the job.... no matter what.... and if you go to buy programs then you're even more secure that YOU WON'T BE WAISTING YOUR MONEY because those are the easiest and more up-to-date way of copying a DVD! No waisted money what so ever. AnyDVD, CloneDVD and DVDFab Platinum are the newbie way to go for simplicity of use and will always get the job done because they are always updated to do the job!
