Just a heads up for anyone who might experience problems with Season 4.
Used DVDFab Platinum 5.1.0.0 to rip the above discs.
Disc 1 played back with no problems at all, however Disc 2 was showing 'DVD MENU' on the dvd player but wouldn't do anything else. Tried the disc on another dvd player, same problem.
Ran the files for Disc 2 thru Vobblanker then burnt to another disk (Vobblanker found a few problems and corrected them).
Disc 2 (so far) playing fine.

Sure, even here in the UK we've had to wait too long since the last season. Also, it's yet another show that was affected by the Writer's Guild Strike, so Season 4 is only half the episodes so we also have to wait 'til January for the other half, i'll have forgotten loads of the plot by then

1-2-09! Well, I guess it's a good thing that I recorded them on my DVR and then burnt them to disk.

Hopefully the latest update of DVDFab (5.1.0.5 Beta) will produce cleaner rips - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_jump.cfm/583712/4330061

this is what DVDFab has been needing for some time. The proof of the pudding is (hopefully) in Battlestar Galactica Season 4 as 5.1.0.0 was sadly lacking in cleaning of some of those discs..

/me scurries off to test it out..
edit- this DVDFab update seems to have produced cleaner rips (so far), at least where Battlestar Galactica is concerned. Will keep a keener eye on future movie rips but thanks to the DVDFab guys for working on the cleaning side of things, it's much appreciated.

I am at a loss about the process some list (DVDFab, Fixvts, shrink, etc)

When I back up my stuff, DVDFab ends with saving to dvd and doesnt allow the other processes)

Do I have my settings in DVDfab inccorectly set?

if so, can someone list the exact processes they use to use the other helpful programs?

thanks a lot

When I use DVDFab I always set my target to a folder on my hard drive. I don't use DVDFab to burn my DVD. I only use DVDFab to rip it to the hard drive. Once it is on the hard drive you can then use FixVTS, VOBblanker, Menushrink, etc.

Thanks for the reply

When I pick a folder to save the movie to, it saves it in AVI format

VOB Blanker needs an IFO file to work, how do you get the VOB Blanker to work with an AVI?

I only used the AnyDVD trial and that was long ago, back when i would never have purchased dvd software; i was happy enough using the freebie DVDFab for the longest time. I think i only used AnyDVD a couple of times though, i have a feeling i only tried AnyDVD as i had nightmares with some movie or other. AnyDVD couldn't deal with the encryption at the time so i ditched it and used DVDFab. Then i eventually purchased DVDFab Platinum to say thanks to DVDFab for the 100s of (frequent) updates we get. But it could easily have been AnyDVD that ended up as my purchased program of choice..

AVI format? That's odd, whenever I use DVDFab it saves it in a folder named for the DVD that contains 2 folders (Audio_TS, and Video_TS)

IE: C:\Users\vulcan94\Documents\DVDFab\FullDisc\Star_Wars\Audio_TS
C:\Users\vulcan94\Documents\DVDFab\FullDisc\Star_Wars\Video_TS

When I use VOBblanker I just point it to the folder that contains the Video_TS.ISO file.

IE: C:\Users\vulcan94\Documents\DVDFab\FullDisc\Star_Wars\Video_TS\Video_TS.ISO
