    Hey,

I'm having problems with my Eurovox not powering up (no lights come on when I plug it in) until I plug it in or out several times.

It had been working before but after leaving it in the box for a few months, it seems to have developed some problems.

I've tried opening the box to tighten up the connections inside and this seemed to work for a while.

However, when I did get the box powered up it went into some sort of fit - the 'Language Settings' menu opens and keeps flicking the menu of available languages open and closed as if someone was hitting the buttons on the remote control.

This eventually stopped (after about 4 minutes) and I was able to go through the installation menu and scan for channels which I could view fine.

However, if I put the box in and out of standby, it periodically goes into this 'Language Settings' fit again until I can exit back out to the channels.

Also, when watching the channels, the box seems to freeze randomly when changing channels or viewing the EPG. I then have to plug the box out at the mains 3 or 4 times to get the box to come back on.

Right now, it doesn't seem to want to power up at all again.

Has anyone ever heard of any boxes having similar problems and how they can be resolved?

I've tried re-applyng the firmware (I've been using "UFL_MaxV_Kuro2_10_04_08") but this didn't help. As the box won't power up at all now I can't even try to apply the latest firmware.

Thanks for any help you can give.

    Hey,

When it turns on, both red and green LEDs come on. When it doesn't come on there are no LEDs.

Also, a couple of times when I've plugged it in, usually after a freeze, only the red LED will come on and nothing else will happen.

Last night I left it plugged in when there were no LEDs on.

After about half an hour, the box suddenly just turned on, start flicking through the menus and before I could react, it had deleted all the channels. So I went to bed.

Just an update on this - I managed to rescan all the channels and can view them fine... when I hold down the buttons on the front.

As soon as I let the buttons go, it goes back into the 'Language Settings' menu fit again.

Only when I hold down a button on the front will it allow me to exit the menu and view the channels.

What could be causing this? It seems like a software issue but after reapplying the firmware, plus the power related issues, it's making me think it's a hardware fault.

    Hi there

I'm not sure if I've same problem as above but my father has given me back (to repair!) his eurovox max V which shows the red standby led light only when switched on. I can't get any other response from it. I suspect it's a hardware problem and am wondering if there's anyone in Dublin out there who can repair it or should I bin it? Help greatly appreciated as original supplier has gone to ground.

Have you tried re-flashing the box? also you could try the reset button on the board.

    Thanks for that.

I'm going to reflash tonight. I'm assuming I flash using the new firmware? I knew nothing about the reset button. Where do I find it?

Yes re-flash with the Uk Firmware.

reset button is on the board you will have to take the lid off. Try a re-flash first of all.

    Hi HiTech

Sorry for delay coming back - been busy. I tried reflashing - absolutely no reaction - just red LED light. I then pushed the reset button - again no reaction whatsoever. I feel this is a hardware problem and am wondering if there's anyone who can repair it or are these boxes not serviceable/worth repairing.

    Replies much appreciated.

Maybe a silly question, but have you tried to get a reaction with the front box controls/and not relying on the remote, (been known to be just a batteries replacement problem!!) - if so then you need to open it up and have a look at the C14 capacitor and try to see if it is bulged or leaking.

Have a look here at this page to identify.

    malci,
yes tried the buttons on the front, nothing. As soon as you power up the box the red standby led just flashing continuously on and off(fast).
I have tried to re-flash but getting "no response from receiver" message.
I have opened the lid and also tried the reset button with power on and off.The box is only a few weeks old and I should be able to take it back.Only thing is the hologram sticky label that says"void if seal broken" is....yes broken now!! oops.

Did you check the C14 Cap, it could be that, (but it is a pity that you did not mention how old the box was - should really have sent it back for refund or replacement - ouch!) - You may as well now at this point, try a force flash, unplug the box from the power and press download and when it say's "waiting for response etc." plug it back in, give it a few goes, it just might kick in, but to be honest it does look like an hardware problem, try it anyway.

    Hi Papaq

Great to see some activity on this thread again! My box is still dead and I'm pretty sure it's hardware. I was about to chuck it out. I don't know how to PM you! Perhaps you might enlighten me?

As Malci said try replacing the C14 cap, it doesn't always look swollen or leak when faulty. The cap will cost you 34 pence from maplins.

Since the boxes got harder to source I've taken to repairing when possible rather than go to the hassle of returning to Rayyonics for replacement - C14 seems to be the cause of many a problem - did one the other day, box up and running fine except for erratic clock display when in standby!!
