I have the HD DVD Ripped to my hard disk by using AnyDVD HD. I want to now convert it to MP4, DivX, AVI or another format that is a single video file that I can either play on a PC or PS3. I legally own these HD DVDs along with the Xbox 360 dvd.cfm" class="forum_link" target="_blank">HD DVD Player, It's just easier to play the video files rather than hooking up my laptop to the TV everytime I want to watch an HD DVD.

1) Use EVOdemux to demux the main movie and single audio track you desire (from FEATURE_1.EVO & FEATURE_2.EVO).
2) Remux to Matroska file with MKVtoolnix for PC playback.
3) For PS3 playback, you can mux to M2TS with tsMuxeR. You will need to make sure a Dolby Digital track is available. If not you can re-encode to Dolby Digital using EAC3to.

Ok, I got it but now my only problem is transfering the 10.3GB file to my PS3.

You could do this via streaming. Alternatively, you could remux to Blu-ray structure setting a file split of 4GB. This way your file wont exceed the 4GB limit that a FAT32 partition has. Then use AVCHD-Me to rename the files to the 8.3 format. After that you can drag and drop this folder onto external media which you can plug into the USB port on the PS3.

I was thinking about media sharing but wireless won't be able to stream fast enough for that. I might split it into multiple 4GB files, I'm sure the PS3 can handle a file larger than 4GB, it's the way of getting it to the PS3 that's the problem since it only supports FAT32, not NTFS.

Correct. The hard drive file system on the PS3 can hold single files larger than 4GB. I have burnt single files onto DVD-9's and copied them onto the PS3 hard drive from there.
For wireless HD streaming, you will need to be equipped with Wi-Fi N, which supports up to 300Mbs. I have this set-up and it certainly makes a difference.

Does the PS3 hard drive recognize DVDs with AVI files on it? I thought it was a locked drive like the PS2.

Yes, it will recognise DVD's with AVI, MP4, M2TS files etc. Why would you think it is a locked drive? It is well known that the PS3 supports a wide variety of media formats as opposed to the PS2 only supporting CD/DVD Video media.

The good thing with the new PS3 update is SEQUENTIAL PLAYBACK of media files on storage media or on the hard disk. If you have to cut your movie into multiple files they can play sequentially. Just go to Video Setting -> Sequential Playback -> On.

Yes, but how do we get sequential playback working when we copy the blu-ray stucture to the \AVCHD folder on our external HDD?? I was told this won't work but the sequential playback from a VIDEO folder of m2ts files does work.

I actually ended up getting a Xbox 360. I don't need to encode the files anymore but the volume of the HD DVD through the 360 seems very low. Does anybody know if this is normal?

This is probably not the right forum but didn't know where to start - I have been downloading avi files for over a year. Recently my HP pc reset itself to the factory settings..saved all the program icons but not the setups. I have a DIVX player & area where the avi files normally save themselves.. My problem. Now that I started downloading again.. I can only find the temp downloaded folder but no main movie
I've searched the pc but cannot find anything
