it may well serve to mention that today and today alone i have seen countless numbers of people complaining of the boxes not working after updating them.

i think it should only be common sence to check the firmware is right for your box and that your box is either clone or original.

as at the time of writing this i am not aware of a working/tried and tested clone fix for any box has been released.

if you have a clone box and run one of the new fixes on it you will most certainl screwup your box. you have been warned.

KNOW YOUR BOX - KNOW YOUR FIRMWARE !!!BEFORE YOU START TO UPATE!!!

think it maybe worth sticky-in this untill there is some clone fixes available. maybe just maybe we might save some boxes from death and save countless posts about firmware fixes screwing up boxes.

If people took the time to read and search they would see there is a dedicated updating guide for this here >>

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/674371#4102978

In that guide you will see a flashing WARNING sign advising people not to load any firmware for the UK to a clone eurovox box.

Although threads such as this (and others) are trying to help out and it is appreciated all it is doing is sending other UPDATED threads which have been dedicated for some time on here to flashing these receivers and proven to work to the bottom of the pile.

I am not just taking about the one I made they are plenty of other threads that have been pushed off the scale and it all comes down to people not searching and pointless/duplicate threads being being made.

    Spot on advice HiTech!!

I've been reading the posts and just manually updating the Starview since the box went off.

I know there's a fix but I've been gathering the * full * facts from the forum before I even attempt to update it. Checking that it's an original and waiting patiently for confirmation of fix / any problems being ironed out.

It amazes me how many people have been wading in and updating and not having a clue! It's comical. I've been reading posts on here more than watching TV.

Thanks to the following for reassurance and fixes/information I've relied on:

Creaky (dunno how you've coped mate), HiTech, DesB, Panasonic (patience of a saint mate) and Sc0user. There are other threads from members I've read that's been helpful (but too many to mention).

    You guys are legends!!

No problem HiTeck (sorry I got your name wrong earlier - your name reminded me of the trainers I wore at school many moons ago LOL).

Credit where credit is due. Keep up the good work (and drinking the coffee).
