I follow the flashing guide for my box and everything goes well, it downloads for 90 seconds and then I get the "downloading is failed" message. Just to be sure, I connected it up and it says updating codes, so it hasn't flashed. I do have the right cable as I flashed the box once before and it was working ok.
I am using a usb-serial connector and windows XP
    Any ideas please?
    Thanks, Mike

Is there a problem with using a usb - serial converter?

There is quite a bit actually, but you had better go to here and read down the page to assigning the correct COMM port. >>>>>>>

Have now solved the problem and flashed the box, the solution?
I bought a different usb-serial converter and it worked first time.

Thanks to those that tried to help out, much appreciated. The converter I got that worked is made by 'Prolific' and is sold by new link products.
