Does anyone out there have any opinion as to which one I should purchase and why? I am not sure which one I want to purchase since it seems that both are user friendly and have many positive reviews. All I want to do is make backup copies of movies that my children watch and backup some of my own. I also want to make duplicates on a DVD+R disc.

To be honest, I use both. It seems that you can never have too many tools to work with. You'll most likely find that there are a few members doing the same. If the budget can stretch that far, I suggest you purchase both and you won't be disappointed in either program.

    Cheers.

Anydvd has a 21 day trial and dvdfab can either be free (HD Decrypter version) or a 30 day trial (gold/platinum versions). I suggest you download each, and compare them to see which one you want to use.

    2) process files (all) with fixvts
    3) shrink files with dvd shrink, output as iso/image to HDD
    4) burn iso/image file with IMgburn

    all programs are free

As Onya stated, you can't have too many tools in the proverbial tool box. I too have both programs and there are many of the regulars on here that do as well.

RTM is also right on. Utilize the free trial periods of both to see which one you like better.

And of course there's always the freeware method which works just as well.

I agree with all of the above. The main thing is to get a good set of files onto the HDD. Before you do any conversions or burning, check and make sure that your files are good to avoid any headaches later.
