    * I can only change the region of my DVD drive one more time.
    * I'm too risk averse to try changing the firmware.
    * I get DVDs from various regions to back up and some won't play in Apple's DVD Player because my drive is set to the wrong region.
    * DVDBackup would remove the region encoding, BUT...

"YOU MUST RUN APPLE'S DVD PLAYER ONCE AFTER INSERTING A DVD. This is to "authenticate" the DVD and allow the files to be copied." [From the DVDBackup v1.3 ReadMe]

    * I can't do that and hence when I try to use DVDBackup anyway, I get the error message:

    "File System Error
Error in processing file '...VOB'. Continue processing other files or stop now?"

So, I can't use DVDBackup until I play it in DVD Player and I can't play it in DVD Player until I use DVD Backup. Catch-22.

I can't believe no-one else has struck this but I can't find any threads on it anywhere. Has anyone experienced this or, better yet, found a work-around?
