Hi, I'm very new to DVD burning. I have a G3 ibook, 640mb ram with a Lacie 120gb firewire external hardrive. I use a small camcorder to capture material by firewire. I've edited a short film about 20 minutes long using Final cut Pro. Do i have to convert the output from Final Cut Pro to Mpeg 2 and is my system powerful enough to do it (& how long?) and what's good software to do it using a G3 ibook. Is CaptyDVD any use? I'm thinking of buying a Lacie d2 external DVD burner - will this work with my system?
I think you need at least a 733 mhz G4 to encode and burn DVD's. Those are the system requirements to use iDVD or DVD Studio Pro. Anyway to be completely sure post the same question in the iBook forum at Apple: http://discussions.info.apple.com/WebX?14@254.V4AnaSXlkf5.0@.ee6ba30
