HOW CAN I SPEED UP THE BURN PROCESS?...IT TAKES NORMALLY ABOUT AN HOUR FOR READING AND 15 MINUTES FOR WRITE.
You can't providing you already have your drive to maximum speed.By the dounds of it you have a 4 speed writer.I would recomend you get another software package.If you use a seperate ripper this will probably take around 20 to 25 mins max.Then polish it off with nero at 4 speed approx 10 to 20 mins depending on size of the disc.I normally manage this in less time with both my 4 and 8 speed writer.But these are based on the slowest times you will get.Which still means at what i would call the slowest you will knock off around 35 mins. Hi weivel, Wlecome to our little Club You might want to give use a bit more information like: 1. Your PC specs a. Your brand of burner 2. The software you're using to rip and burn. a. Your software settings 3. Is your burner running in the PIO or DMA mode ? 4. Does your PC have all the latest upgrades loaded in ? 5. Do you have all your latest firmware ? 6, Do you have an active ASPI layer installed ? Have you gone into msconfig and turned off everything under the start tab ? Lastly, have you stayed from your PC while it's been processing your DVD's ? Get back to us with the answers and we'll try to be of some help, cheers Pete

You bet yuh but iam not drunk as i can not look at the old keyboard when iam .Its my last night off work and then its back to being the good old grumpy night shift manager where i work.When i get back in work tomorrow i will be back to normal.Obviously i have been off work this week and was not going anywhere just a general park your back side.I have hid from the wife and had lots of fun on my beloved AD site.Unfortunetley all good things come to a end so i'll be back to AD when i can. weivel, First ... No all caps. It's considered yelling. Now speed of using XCopy depends on your pc. For the average pc, those time sound right when burning at 4x. The only thing you can do is mabe try 8x media, if your burner supports it, but I wouldn't recommend it. 15min @ 4x isn't bad. And if your wondering about the read process. Again for an average pc, that sounds right. For me I believe it takes around 30-40min to read.
Mainly as a preference. From my experience burning at 8x on Verbatim disc, at times cause errors on my disc ... errors that I don't get burning at 4x or 2.4x
I seem to do OK with 8X on data, but run into problems near the end of the movie. I use a Sony 530A firmwared to 8x, and I also have to use DVD-R 8X media (Ritek). Anyway, after I backed off I didn't have any more problems.
You see, I have a NEC 2500a which burns 4x Ridata -R at 8x and have no problems.I also have a 451s upgraded to 851s which burns Ridata +R 4x at 8x and no problems. Maybe I'm just fortunate. But like you say flip, just a matter of preference.
Ok, sorry been away for a while, been celebrating my b-day, but im using dvdxcopy rf with patch on 2.3 ghz, 512memory, sony 8x external dvdr drive. i guess what im really trying to do is save the movie on my hard drive. it automatically removes itself after the write is completed. how do i do this??

Hi there weivel, Giving you the benefit of a doubt there guy and hoping this isn't the type of the threads you've been warned about - One answer is - prior to the last click of "OK" that starts your proggy working, make sure you have entered a temp file location that's easy for you to find, without putting in a blank disc allow XCopy to encode your DVD. Go to the folder you set up and "Copy" the file to another directory, then insert your blank DVD so that it can be written too and allow DVD XCopy to start it's burning process. Now that i finally got to a succesful point with dvdxcopy, i also dwnloaded shrink and decrypter. what are the first steps i should take to having successful backups?
My friend you have took the first step by using dvd shrink this is an amazingly good software.Install Nero and place your original film in and ask shrink for the full disc option.Before you know it you will be asked for a blank media where Nero will finish off the good job Nero started and all with a few clicks. weivel... That's a good question, and a lot of people ask it. I tell people the best place to start with Shrink is with an animated tutorial you find online. Start with the Basic one, work up to the Intermediate, etc. The guides are a little different than the latest v3.2 release of Shrink, but the fundamentals are the same. http://www.dvdshrink.info/guides.php When you get a DVD around 7.5+ GB's you might want to experiment to see which transcoder (Shrink or DVDXCopy) gives you the best results. In some cases i believe what Scuba pete is saying is totally correct.I had to learn the hard way through guides from the software i was using.The first thing i tried to back up i did not have the software to cover it.I did not have these forums to cover his like you do now.Please read the guides that these experiance guys have provided you and then come back with questions.These guys have worked really hard to put it on a plate for you so please try not abuse them.
