I am using a Pioneer DVR-105 4X dvd-rw and various kind of 4X dvd-r. I have set the IDE in Device Manager to use DMA if available. I have tried Nero, Alcohol, and DVD Decrypter and set the write speed to 4X. Everytime it writes at 1.2X and takes 45 - 50 mins to write a DVD ISO. Can anybody help? thanks.

    Hi,

It may be set to "DMA if available" but what is the current transfer mode?

Device 0 Current T M is 'Ultra DMA Mode 2'
    Device 1 C T M is 'PIO Mode'
I notice when the burner writes dvd, the buffer indicator on DVD Decrypter goes down to 10% and up to 90% constantly.

    Hi,

I'm betting this is your burner. When a drive refuses to go to DMA it sometimes helps to uninstall the drive through Device Manager. Here's how:

    My Computer

Right click the icon for your burner.

    Select Properties.

Go to the Hardware tab and click Properties within that tab.

    Go to the Driver tab.

    Select Uninstall then click ok.

Reboot then check to see if the transfer mode is now set to DMA.

Let us know if this does the trick :)
