    stuart123,

Convert your AVI to MPEG using TMPGEnc - that will get you where you want to go -

and "Hi, Welcome to the Club :)

    Hi,

If you want a video file to be played by your DVD Player, it must be in one of the following formats :
-- MPEG2 - the high quality DVD format
-- VCD : MPEG1 (resolution of 352x288 in PAL and 352x240 in NTSC)
-- SVCD : MPEG1 (resolution of 480x576 in PAL and 480x480 in NTSC)

ScubaPete is right, TMPGenc encodes both VCD and SVCD.

(And if you want a avi player more friendly than WMP (for your PC), try Hyplay at http://www.hyplay.com. It's a free avi player, very... funky !)

Now if you want it MPEG, DVD compatible - you'll want to run it through TMPGEnc DVD Author :D)
