Burned DVD's are too big for a TV?

Ok, so I decided to burn some AVI files to DVD using Nero Vision 4 and Nero Burning ROM. I put everything to high quality, and the burn is successful. However, since I have subtitles on the movie, they seem to be cut off at the bottom. It seems like its too vertically stretched to fit perfectly on a regular non HDTV. It's so annoying when subtitles are cut off the screen. Any ideas on how to solve this?

In Nero Vision, under video options > dvd video, is the aspect ratio set as 4:3?

Hm, It was always set to Automatic, but in the video details at the end, it always said 4:3. I'll try that, and process some results.

EDIT: ARGH, it didn't work. The video is still stretched out so part of the top and bottom are cut off. Here are some video details I managed to gather.

    720x480 CCCIR-601 DI - 4:3
