I have a version 1.0 and my xbox won't read any discs, as I see many other people's are. what I am wondering is if there is any drive I can buy or order that I can use to replace the disc drive in my xbox to fix it...(or if I should just try to take it apart and clean the laser eye or what,) please help me!!!

I had the same problem. I went to ebay. The site will have plenty of spare roms. I just got a Samsung 616T, it was upgraded to work in an xbox. I installed it tonight and it read DVD-R DVD+R CD-R CD-RW with no problem.
