can i use my nokia 2600 bought in US in Europe?

    I am traveling to the Czech Republic this week and would like to take my Nokia 2600 with me to use with a SIM card that I used with a different phone when I was there 4 years ago. I read somewhere on this forum that a phone bought in the US could not be made to work in Europe, (lacks the correct frequency). Is this true?

    being the 2600 is only Dual band 850/1900mhz, it will not be compatable for use in Europe which work on 900/1800mhz
