    I have had no trouble copying my retail DVDs, but when I try to do the same to a dvd backup, XCopy Platinum won't give the green light. Is there a fix for this. Surely there must be a way. Please help me out. Again, until now, I have had flawless results.

    Not necessarily. Most likely, you didn't get a flawless burn of the retail DVD's like you think you did, and there were crc read errors on the dvd's you burned. If these are minor, dvd players will often play through them without you even noticing (unless you are paying close attention). When they are more significant, you'll see skips and pauses in the playback, and may even have to fast forward through a pause to keep watching.

    The point is, that while dvd players are forgiving of these crc read errors, copying from dvd to computer is not. If there are errors, most copy programs will not work. I don't know about "XCopy Platinum" but in dvd decrypter, there is a setting in Tools-->Settings-->I/O to "ignore read errors." You might give that a try.

    Wrong forum for this thread but here goes, it is the DVDXCopy Platinum with ripper program that will not let you copy a copy. It is my understanding that only the Ripper free released versions of this program will let you copy a copy. Try using programs such as nero or sonic to back-up your DVDXCopy copies.

    I use both nero & alcohol 120% to copy my xcopy copies, both ripper & RF versions. If you copy with RF platinum you have to use simple mode & use the browse button to find the disc.
    For some reason, the prog will not recognise the disc straight away if it is a copy!

    DVDShrink will let you copy your previous DVDxCopy copies. Plus it's free!

    When you get it go into:

    Menus, Title Menus, English, then the last menu will be the 321 startup screen which you can change out with a still picture.

    Try downloading the trial version of AnyDVD (slysoft.com), it's worked for me.

    @hal9OOO,

    Umm ... No.

    @mozhoven,

    If you used good media for the backup w/ XCopy, then Nero, Shrink or Decrypter will do it.

    Thats correct you cant make a copy of a copy with DVD X COPY...use nero or roxio on the fly or use DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter.

    You can copy them with the ripper free version but sometimes it works and sometimes it dosent. DVD Decrypter and nero is the best for that i think because you can use decrypter then take out the dvd backup screen from xcopy and then use nero. Plus these programs are better than dvdxcopy anyways.

    the easiest way to copy a copy of a dvd is to use the program that came with your dvd writer.the movie has already been shrunk and since it is a cpoy there is no cpoyright to worry about.
