I've been using my old windows 98SE computer with a DVD-RW and a DVD Drive for some time now with DMA active on both drives.

I recently got a Dell 8400 and there seems to be nothing I can do to get the Slave drive to enter DMA mode. No matter which drive I put as the slave, it stays as PIO. I have tried to un/reinstall the IDE driver, the registry edit, switching the drives from CS, MA/SL... The Master drive enters DMA all the time, it's ONLY the slave drive I am having problems with. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Alex.

    My System:
    3.0GHz P4
    512MB DDR2 RAM @533MHz
    80GB serial ATA HDD
    Intel 925X Express

    Ok, I figured it out.

For anyone with the same computer and problem in the future...

I uninstalled the drive from device manager, rebooted, and set all the defaults in bios. The rest was up to the comp.

    Thanks anyway.
