I have a benq/acer cd-r/rw model 3210A which is not reading cd's. The light flashes on the cd-rom but then stops. When I try to use explorer to view the files, there aren't any listed. I"ve triet different cd's but without success. Strangely, the windows xp pro cd is the only one that it seems to read. Any suggestions?
I also have this problem. My sole optical drive has a model number listed on the drive as "1032a - 065". Though there is no manufacturer label to be found on the drive, I'm guessing this is the same Acer drive. Won't read data or audio cds. Update: the problem is with the drive itself. I was able to replace the defective drive with an older one I had laying around; I had no problems with the older drive, isolating the problem to the Acer 1032a. I also tried cleaning the defective drive with a standard cd cleaning kit, but to no avail.
