No problem, you should update your box with the latest firmware so that it will auto update the codes itself.
new code works perfect in galway to, thanks, also is it easy to install firmware, another dope here i'm afraid.
LOL, ah it's easy enough but you may already have the latest firmware on your box, to see press the 'Menu' button on your remote and select 'System Info' that will tell you what API version is on your box. If you have an original S******w 1 it should have API ver 4.00,if you have a S******w 2 'The Box' it should have API ver 4.50,
Ah then you definatly need to update it so. Is your box a genuine box or clone ? Count the vents on top of it to confirm 18 slot x7 rows = clone 25 " x7 " = genuine
Mine has 7 * 25 vents api ver : 2.57e_E boot ver :7.0 16.Aug. 2006 I presume it needs an update, I am reluctant to hook it up to this laptop though as it on loan from a kind friend whilst mine is off being repaired. I am a total newbie to this St*****w craic, any advice.
You have a genuine box and yea it needs to be updated if it's a S******W 1 box put version 4.00 on it if it's a S******w 2 'The Box' put version 4.50 and hook it up to it if you have the right cable to,updating your box does nothing to your computer and as I said that's a good guide so if you follow it step by step it should update ok for you.
Ok that's good stuff,to update it you will need a null modem cable DB9F to DB9F. Null modem info http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=L71BT&DOY=2m6 If your pc does not have a serial port you will need a USB to serial port adapter to use in conjunction with the null modem cable. USB Adapter info http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Modu...erial Adaptor These two cable links are only for reference as they can be purchased alot cheaper on fleabay. All firmware/loader can be found in this link http://eko.4shared.com/ select 4.00 for your S******w1 box. You will need the GTromloader, (Starview Software Uploader), found in the Starview software folder of the link. You should also download the Starview PDF guide this will give you step by step instructions on how to do everything. This can be found in the Starview Documentation folder in the link.
D'oh. Which one of these do i download (when I get the cable)? http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/493446
C019 just read your last post and it looks to much so a simpleton like me , so my question is , apart from updating the codes itself does upgrading the box have any other benefits? As if it doesnt I think I might leave it be and not risk ruining the box .
