I have mp3's at the average size of 5 meg and i was wondering if it is possable to compress them down to 2 meg or less with minimun quality loss. i have tired wth bdpoweramp but it sounds like it is under water and there is crackling sounds. i know you can do it with wma but my mp3 player only plays mp3.
    thanx.

    ps.
if it can be done would i be better of ripping the music again or just recompressing the existing files.

I personally wouldn't recommend lowering the bitrate to make the filesize under 2 megs. I assume its cause you want to fit more songs on your portable player? They're going to be at around AM Radio quality. If you still want to though, rip them again from the CD. Don't re-compress them from exisitng mp3s. Thats just going to reduce the quality even further. Try ripping at 96k/b VBR. Use EAC and LAME. Here's the guide:
