i was running a virus scan like I do every week and it asked for my computer to be restarted so I did just that. It tells me to type in my password and when I tried to sign on to the computer it displayed my wallpaper for a few seconds (no icons) and then says saving settings and automatically logs me off. I tried this a couple more times with the same result. I rebooted and tried to restart in safe mode but the same thing happened even when logging on as administrator. I am completely locked out of my PC. Any guesses? BTW I run XP home edition.

when I try to put the computer in safe mode the same thing happens. I am using a different computer to type this since I can't log on to mine.

Good to see that you posted this to the right place now, but isn't there a double thread now? ;-)

Anyway, can you boot into safemode?
