    Hi jknakes,

I think for starters you explain exactly what it is you are doing.

You are copying copys of DVDs?
Nero can't copy at what speed?
Shrink..using open disc button...I think think they mean the software OPEN button, not the button on the front of your DVD drive.

Can you not read the disc?

    Adder.

    jknakes,

I agree with Adder, need more info. However I can tell you Nero does an excellent job of copying a copy.

Use Nero Express and hit the copy entire disc

Not sure what you mean about speeds but I recommend never burning over 4x :>)

I'm browsing the forums looking for a similar answer, maybe I can shed some lite on my issue and help the original poster as well

When trying to make copies of copies, be it compressed copies of backups or copies of home movie projects I've done, the system will not always read the Dvd in the drive. Opening My Computer shows it as empty and I have to open and close the dvd drive multiple times in order to get the drive to read the contents of the Dvd.

Just had a brainstorm on it. I am running anydvd in the background and seem to get an anydvd error sometimes when trying to read the disc. Since I don't need anydvd running for a preburnt copy, I'll turn it off and try again.

I'll post later with my findings

    (post testing)
After years of research, cancelled grants, and a complete 129 page thesis I have uncovered the following:

I exited out of the Anydvd program that was running in the background 100% of the time and tested 4 burnt/copies of Dvds, 2 of the 4 were well known for not reading prior to this test (one home movie and one back up copy of a movie I own) and the other 2 had never been installed in the Dvd drive so results were unknown.

Results were positive! 3 of the 4 were recognized within seconds. The 4th needed to open and close the Dvd drive once and then it was also recognized.

Now if I can only figure out my WinxpSP2/Router problem, but alas, that is for another forum. New to these forums, love the user friendly format and the multitude of knowledgable and helpful people. Thanks for your/my help. :)

I hope this helps jknakes with his problem

my problem is a bit different then that. both my drive will read that there is a dvd in them by going threw my computer. nero will read that there is something in the drive. when i try to copy with nero i go to the dvd tab then copy disk. when i click start a message pops up saying that nero can't copy at this speed. changing the speed doesn't make a differnece. when i try to use shrink to copy dvds the drives don't recognise that there is anything in them. could it be that since the nero i have wasn't aquired in the best mannor? everything else on it works though.
