Hi there I'm hoping someone here can help with my mp3 problem. I have my laptop connected to my tv via hdmi. I used a set of Logitech z5500 speakers for my audio and they are directly connected to my laptop for all audio. So basically I only use the hdmi output for video.
I have the klite codec pack installed with media player classic. When I play mp3's, of any quality, I hear crackling during play back. The mp3's do not crackle at all when I play them with the built in windows media player or VLC player.
I'd like to use media player classic because I play my movies on it and I'm just used to it now.
Is there some setting in MPC that Im missing?
    Thanks

Try hooking it up with an audio cable from the laptop to the TV's audio input and see what it sounds like. Then connect the speakers up to the TV.You also may have a bad cable connecting the speakers to the laptop or the laptops connector has a loose connection.

    So it's only with MPC?

    If so, install ffdshow.
In MPC, select View > Options > External filters > Add filter and select 'ffdshow audio decoder'.
Set to 'Prefer' for the Merit.
Play a file with mp3 and verify that the ffdshow icon is displaying on the Taskbar lower right.
If it isn't, then configure ffdshow audio for mp3.

    When you use MPC?
Tell it to stop using it.

View > Options > External filters.
If 'ffdshow audio decoder' is listed, uncheck it and ok.
