I am wondering about playing DVD's with this recorder. I have on older Toshiba DVD player, but it has the DTS Decoder and Dolby Digital. Does this recorder play surround sound when you play DVD's. If so what formats does it support. I read somewhere but can't find it now that it doesn't have a DTS decoder. I am trying to decide if I will be better off watching DVD's with this recorer, my old DVD player, or getting a new DVD player. Thanks for any advice.

    hey
I am not sure of your question. but I did research on this machine and I love it. OFcourwse it only writes on dvD-R(not dvd-RW) but it will read any disc. IT has a tvguide in it kinda like a free tivo but it can only go ahead 1 day but you can make it record a show everyday or everyweek. Its very versitile. Just goota be smart about it can sit it on or sit any other machine on top of it so it doesnt over heat.
In MY OWN opinion it is a GREAT machine.
    hope this helps.
