I need some help. My computer won't read blank media when I put it in my drive. I was having this problem, thought that it was the drive, so went out and bought a new one. Sony DRU-700. Put that drive in, worked for about an hour, and now have the same problem. Formatted hard drive, re-installed windows, and still won't pick up blank disks (CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW). Upgraded to the new firmware VY05, and still doesn't work. I need help and ideas.

I'd start by double checking that all cables and jumper settings are correct on the drive. Then use a drive info tool (one comes free with nero) to make sure that the drive including the firmware is been recognized. If you have a 2nd PC it could be worth installing the drive to see if things change, Then I would contact Sony or look at their forums or here for more information.
