I recently bought a DVR-111D which is advertised as being compatible with DVD-R Dual Layered Disc. However, when I checked capabilities in DVD Decrypter it says it doesn't support it. I haven't tryed burning a DL disc yet as I just ordered them. Can someone confirm that the DVR-111D does or does not support DVD-R DL.

It looks like it supports DVD+R DL just not DVD-R DL.
I haven't even seen DVD-R DL discs at any stores yet.
You should be OK with the DVD+R DL's

I'm not sure about v9, but it depends how you boot your backups as well.
I don't think Swap Magic works so you have to rebuild the game.
If you have a DMS4 Pro chip they work not sure about other chips.
If you do have another chip you can try patching the image with Toxic Patcher.

The 111D *SHOULD* write to -R DLs. It's possible that DD is misreporting it. Have you tried Nero Infotool? It's equally possible that your particular drive firmware doesn't support Dual-Layer -Rs, only Double-Layer +Rs. You can flash your drive to a 111L which will also give you bitsetting of +R single-layer discs, and probably supports -R DL.

BTW, the 111L firmware might also give you DVD-RAM support too. I'm not sure about it, but some of the 111 firmwares do support DVD-RAM, some don't.

You are talking about hacked firmware. The only way to find out if the burner is supposed to support DVD-R DL media is to go to the Pioneer website. I don't think that that model did, but can't remember for sure.
