what would be better for encoding in dvd shrink faster?
    a p4 3.0 or a athlon 64 3000? would there be that much of a difference?

    1. Provided that you're talking about a P4C or P4E then the Intel platform would be the superior choice although, as Nephilim has noted, the difference wont be earth shattering. Encoding has traditionally been an Intel thing (although with the A64s, the inclusion of SSE2 has help a lot to close that gap)

    2. As for the AMD part, unless you are talking about the very new Winchester core 3000+ (Socket939, dual channel, 2Ghz HT) then the route again would be Intel. Now if you are talking about the new Socket939 part then its really a close call .... potentially leaning in favour of AMD but again, the differences wont be earth shattering :)
