I have recently discovered that my Sony DDU1621 DVD drive (which will play any and every kind of cd/dvd/cd-r/dvd-r media that I put in it) is not being recognized as a DVD-ROM drive by dvd's that have extra 'rom only' content.

I have tried to update drivers and firmware for this drive and have had no luck. I have tried using different playback programs, such as powerDVD, NVDVD, InterActual, and Windows Media Player, still nothing.

Do any of you have any suggestions on how I might be able to remedy this problem, or am I just screwed?

    Thanks

just right click the icon for that drive and select 'Explore' and you will be able to browse it's directories and access the "ROM only content," as you put it.
