once i select bin file and click download i get this
error:model name not correct
Also having same problem, any help much appciated.
fekker to the rescue ?
Which model of Starview do you have?
I have the Starview.
Are you trying to change the model name in GTROM Loader by any chance?
no just choosing the bin file from the desktop , making sure app file is ticked then click download , then we get the error message
Yes that may be it I change the name as I thought thats what I was meant to do (it said something like that in the help section of the software)
Now I cant get rid of the names that I entered.
Do you think that has something to do with it?
You do not enter anything into that box leave it at GCR 3510 and try again. You might need to download the files again if it won't let you change it back.
Okay thanks very much for your time and help fekker. just going to download the software again now, 15 mins waiting time.
I will post details of how I got on, did you see the post above from leekop, he says he hasnt tried to changed the name at all and is still getting the same problem,
Try these instead.
Just downloaded them, opened the loader up and the names that I ebtered are still showing,
Delete the one you have before using the new file, reboot the starview also.
I also have another bin file: STAR VIEW_26012007_257eE.
When I try to download it with this I get this message:
Cant open serial port
Last error: The system cannot find the file specified.
Does that mean I have a problem with my serial port?
Are you using a NULL MODEM cable or SERIAL CABLE ? Try another COM PORT (2) Factory reset the Starview.
I am using a null modem cable, tried using all the different com ports but still getting the same message.
When I click download I make sure the model no is GCR3510 after getting the Eroor message the model reverts back to one of the names that I entered before.
Do you think this is having any effect?
Also I have bought a USB to Serial adapter as my sisters laptop does not have a serial port.
Do you know if its possible to update that way?
Sorry forgot to mention also tried factory reset, and is it possible to update with usb to serial adapter? thanks
Some adapters don't work too well. Check in Device Manager on your PC and check the COM PORT for the USB-SERIAL adapter is the same as the one you are trying to use in GTROM loader.
How do I get to device manager? Sorry I dont know much about pcs. thanks
Start/settings/control panel you will see an icon for SYSTEM. Open that, click on Hardware then on the button for Device Manager. Look down the list of devises to find the USB - serial adapter in Ports (click on the + to expand it. Look at the one you want and see what Com Port it has been assigned.
Separate names with a comma.
