I've tried everything from using a router with some Cat5 and using a crossover cable just hooked up to my NIC, as well as having tried 5 different FTP client software, but everytime I get a "Connection Refused" error. I'm using the retail HDD and Slayer's 2.6. On the system settings of EvoX, does it matter if it says the HDD is locked? Someone please help!

Ok first thing to check, close any firewall you have.
    then try these settings
    on your pc
    set the ip as 192.168.0.3
    subnet 255.255.255.0

    leave default gateway blank
save settings, make sure nic is enabled
on your xbox (presuming you use evox)
    set the ip as 192.168.0.1
    leave everything else
    save and exit
reboot the pc (leave the crossover connected)
when pc reboots, reboot your xbox
    using flash fxp
    goto quick connect
    (yellow lightning bolt)
    use the ip 192.168.0.1
    username xbox
    password xbox

    click connect
if it doesnt connect first time, try closing flashfxp and rebooting your xbox
    then try again
if you have no firewalls etc it should work just fine
The locked or unlocked hdd doesnt matter with the ftp.
when you say youre using slayers, have you instlaled it or are you running it from the disc? (ie you dont use slayers to connect, you use evox) make sure you install slayers correct.
Take out the disc, try it again.
