    Hi,

The media player is optional and whether you want it or notis totally up to you. All it does is play audio and video files and shouldn't affect the burn process.

Good job getting Nero downloaded,I don,t bother with the media player because I use Windows Media Player 9 and Power DVD,Nero was updated on the 11th Aug.so your set OK for a while.

    Hi there qpasha,

I wouldn't put Nero to sleep too quickly - find

It's my feeling that happens all too many times -

I'm refering to Nero's recode 2, an excellent that's overlooked too often -

When you have a chance, use recode2 instead of DVD Shrink :)

    Later guys,

    Pete

Totally agree pete, recode is an excellent prog, and after ripping,(anydvd or decrypter for that) everything else can be done out of recode including burn. Recode has also been improved on the quality end too, and is very user friendly.

    Hey ScubaPete,

Just curious.. In your own opinion, Does Recode 2 produce better results than Dvdshrink? I haven't messed with NERO recode alot. What are the advantages? Thanks ScubaPete..

Actually, opinions are like - you know, everyone has one.

I believe that if you compare DVD Shrink's finished product (done with full quality settings) there's no comparision. DVD Shrink takes a whole lot longer but the quality is outstanding.

Why not play with some of DVD Shrink's "Goodies" and see how you like it :)

    Cheers,

    Pete

Hey flip, yes I have, looks real good, does a 2 pass now like shrink, and takes much longer with it checked like shrink, and since the same fella works on both of them(shrink, and recode that is) I gotta think quality is close. I haven't put them up on my bigscreen yet with a 50/50 split and zoomed in for a close comparison but I'll do that this weekend and let ya know what I found.

It doesn't have all the quality settings shrink does, easier to run, but we'll see. Nero has also corrected the bugs created from the last update, especially the sizing problem.

I have Roxio 6 and nero6 and I have used both to back-up a movie. The draw back of roxio is that it will only allow a data dvd from cd creator only allowing you to watch the movie from your computer using winDVD or powerDVD.Nero is the best program for burning unprotected video files.Roxio is a such a big program even though it is nice to use it's size is at least 600 megs from the cd where nero is around 72.They are both good program but nero is better for using with shrink.

    Hi hijacker,

I'm glad you're having no difficulity.

However, the majority of cases have shown serious issues arising from having both Roxio and Nero operating on the same machine even when Roxio's "Drag and Drop" feature is removed.

It seems that Roxio doesn't play well with others.

There are some, like you who have no problem but for the rest, be careful -

    cheers,

    Pete

Pete is not rude what you did (double posting, pming, etc.) was against the rules and is one of the biggest things that pisses off the people around here who help.

I don't mind helping and neither does Pete, however, read through our rules and come back and let us/me know if you need anymore help.

Glad that you got your stuff going.
