When i plug it in, it says the device has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it. The reader has worked before with no problem.
Ive tried all my other USB ports and another computer, still the same message. I dont think the device itself is broken because it hasnt really moved since the last time it worked, it was only unplugged.
Under the device manager it says its an "Unknown Device" and the device status says: No drivers are installed for this device.
The problem is the driver it came with wont install unless it detects the reader, which it dosent.
I have a dell dimension 2400, windows xp home SP2
    Can someone plz help me?

the fact that 2 different computers come up with the same problem with that card reader means that the card reader has crapped out or a broken wire in the cable which is just as bad. is it still under warranty?
