What kind of recorder do you have? Are you using the right kind of DVD recording disc?

Have you finalized the disc after you finish recording? Look in your manual for finalizing the disc. On my JVC the disc won't play unless finalized. Hope This Helps (HTH).

all the post above are correct..

you also need to remember that all dvd recorders have built-in
protection in them, for that reason of copying, don't know
what to say about your home movies but could be a factor
and the hok up is also different on such models.

if your dvd is one of those combo units VHS/DVD Recorder
they also have that built in protection in them.

there are ways around that as well, but if you only have a
few to transfer from vhs to dvd it's not worth the trouble.

i have a Sansui combo unit VHS/DVD Recorder and have found
a way around the protection, if you know what i mean, but
it's a lot of trouble and not worth it to me.

    just my 2 cents............
    gday...............
