Sorry if this is the wrong place to post, but haven't found any info anywhere that can tell me my dvd burners "possible" life expectancy! I have a new Dell 8400 with a Philips dvd 16x burner. I burn a lot of dvds at about 4GB each. My question is how many can I burn before something goes up or wears out? What usually goes up in it first and how can I tell when I'm having problems with the burner and it's time to get a new one? I'm new to this so any info would be helpful! Thanks!

Is there any real quality or life expectancy difference you think between the Pioneer or the Philips that Dell installed in mine?

You mean to say, the movies burned on there won't last for very long? I thought the quality would be there for a long time?

I have only used TDK 8x dvd+r. I assume they are good! Thinking about trying the Taiyo Yuden every seems to swear by. I never buy the store brand crap! I'm afraid of too many coasters! Time to go to work! Thanks! for your help!
